Our commitment
VTCo aims for this site to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology, keyboard navigation, magnification or reduced motion.
Conformance target
This site targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Conformance is verified continuously rather than claimed once: an automated accessibility test suite (axe) runs against every page on every build, and a build does not ship while a check fails.
Measures we take
- Semantic HTML with proper landmarks, one h1 per page and an ordered heading structure.
- A skip-to-content link, and full keyboard operability of the navigation, including menus that return focus to their trigger when closed.
- Text and interface colors chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast, including deliberate departures from earlier designs where contrast required it.
- Motion and transitions neutralized for readers whose systems request reduced motion.
- Alternative text enforced structurally: meaningful images must carry a description and decorative images must be marked decorative before content can publish.
- Images sized explicitly so pages do not shift while loading.
Known limitations
- Some analysis pages embed interactive data applications served from a third-party environment. We work to make these usable, but they may not yet meet the same standard as the surrounding page; each embedded view is accompanied by descriptive text on the page itself.
- Placeholder imagery is in use in some sections while final photography is produced; descriptions are provided throughout.
Feedback
If you encounter a barrier anywhere on this site, we want to know about it. Contact us and describe the page and the difficulty; accessibility reports are treated as defects, not suggestions.
